Lawrence M. Donoghue is a senior lawyer, providing counseling for labor and employment transactions. He has extensive experience in Human Resources consulting and training, employee relations, employment litigation, and compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
Larry practices labor and employment law for many small- to mid-sized businesses dealing with employment-related issues. He advises these businesses in employment issues ranging from employee screening, hiring, and discipline, and post-termination issues such as employment discrimination claims and lawsuits. Larry helps employers bring their employment practices into compliance with various federal and state laws.
Prior to joining CorpLaw, Larry served as a General Attorney for United Air Lines for 5 years where he served as the sole legal representative on management committees that reviewed employee terminations, and acted as lead counsel on a significant number of lawsuits and discrimination cases challenging UAL employment decisions. Larry also served as a Senior Attorney for Montgomery, Ward & Company for 7 years where he managed hundreds of discrimination charges pending before EEOC and state agencies alleging discrimination in all aspects of employment.
Before Montgomery Ward & Company, Larry started his career as an Associate Attorney at the Chicago firm of Tully and Roddy for 3 years. He litigated personal injury cases and also tried labor arbitrations and lawsuits.
Larry is a 1973 graduate of Georgetown University, where he received a B.A. degree. In 1978, he was awarded a J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.
Larry has had many speaking engagements, including at seminars sponsored by: the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce, Chicago bar Association, Evanston Chamber of Commerce, Greater O'Hare Association of Industry and Commerce, and the Loyola University School of Industrial Relations on topics relating to compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws. He has also written articles for employers which have appeared in the Small Business Journal, the DuPage Business Ledger, and Talking to the Boss.
